If you had to choose: Would you rather have a boss that knows more – or that cares more?
There are a plethora of definitions for emotional intelligence(also known as E.Q). One of the more comprehensive definitions states Emotional Intelligence is: is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
I would also argue that emotional intelligence requires that you understand how your actions and emotions may influence others.
There are five characteristics of emotional intelligence (we will dive deeper into each one over the coming weeks) Self-awareness, Self-regulation, Motivation, Empathy, and Social skills.

How we choose to relate with others, especially as leaders, will determine the strength of our success. As leaders, by definition, we can’t go alone – we must go with others. Afterall, what and who are leaders without those they lead?
